ECPE Challenge
Written by Michael Reid and published by Macmillan, ECPE Challenge has been written for students who are beginning an advanced-level course in English and who are aiming to sit the University of Michigan ECPE exam. The material within ECPE Challenge has been selected and written so that it will work well both with classes of adolescents and with more mature students who want to prepare for the ECPE.
The material in ECPE Challenge is graded so that students who might have recently passed the ECCE or a similar B2-level exam with difficulty or who might be coming back to English after a break can be brought up to the required level.
In addition, the book aims...
- to be genuinely interesting in its choice of texts and in the issues raised
- to practice the skills needed to become proficient in the four skill areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing
- to provide extra help with essay writing
- to familiarize students with the advanced grammar tested in the ECPE
- to enable students to get used to the technical vocabulary often found in the ECPE texts
- to really boost the students' active vocabulary with systematic recycling of new items
- to practise all the exercise types found in the ECPE exam
- to prepare students well for the new ECPE speaking test
- to help students cope easily with ECPE-type listening activities
- to provide a detailed guide to the ECPE exam
- to enable students to become much more confident speakers, writers and readers of English
The ECPE Challenge package includes a work book to consolidate the material covered by the course book. There is also a mid-year, ECPE-style revision test and a full mock ECPE exam at the end of the course.
