Do you know how to ask questions?

A. Often we use the verb do.

Do you like football?
Yes, I do.

Do you want to come with us?
Yes, I do

Does* she work at your company?
No, she doesn't. She works at another company..

Do they speak English?
No, they don't, but they speak German.

Do I know you?
Yes, you do. We met last year in Rome.

*We only use does with he, she or it.

B. With the verb be (am/is/are) we don't use "do".

Is the food ready?
Yes, it is. We can eat now.

Is she your manager?
Yes, she is.

Am I in the right place?
No, you aren't. The conference is on the first floor.

Are they Chinese?
No, they aren't. They are Korean.

Are you ready?
Not yet. I need a few more minutes.

Is there a cash machine near the hotel?
Yes, there is. There is one 30m down the road.
